This privacy statement sets out how Corbion NV and its group entities (‘Corbion‘ or ‘we‘) uses and protects any information that you provide to Corbion when you visit our website and correspond with us. Corbion NV is the data controller for our website, and the local Corbion entity with whom you may interact is the data controller for such interactions.

What information do we collect?
When you visit our website, you can contact us via the Contact button by filling out the form. Through this form, we collect all the information that you fill out, including your name, company, e-mail, country, your enquiry, how you heard about us and any other information you decide to enter into the form.

 

You can also contact us via e-mail and using the contact details listed on various parts of our website. If you contact us, we will collect your name, company and phone number, and any other information you provide us which we need to be of further assistance and communicate with you.

 

If you use the ‘Subscribe’ button to subscribe to the our newsletters and updates, we will collect the information you fill out in the form, including your e-mail address, the topics for which you wish to receive updates or further information and other information you decide to provide us in the subscription form, such as your name, company and position. You can always unsubscribe from these messages by following the instructions in these e-mails.

 

If you are one of our customers, suppliers or prospects, we may process limited personal data in the course of our business relation with you, for example when you place an order, request a sample. Such personal data may include your company, name and title, e-mail address, telephone number, address, order details, and where applicable, credit registrations and credit limits.

 

If you make use of our Customer Portal, we collect the information you have filled out on the registration form or provided us with, including your name, company, e-mail address, phone number, job title and user name and password. We also register relevant queries and the pages and products our customers view in the Customer Portal.

What do we do with the information we collect?
We may use your information for the following purposes:

  • We use the information you provide us when you contact us, for example in relation to enquiries, orders, comments or complaints made by you for conducting business with you and for our legitimate interest of communicating with you about our products and services.
  • If you are one of our customers, suppliers or prospects, we use your information to establish and fulfil our contract with you.   • We use the information you provide us via the ‘Subscribe’ button to send you information on our products and services, special offers and other information based on the interests that you have indicated to us.   • If necessary, we can use your information in order to comply with applicable laws and for our legitimate purpose of protecting our legal rights, for example, in connection with legal claims, compliance, regulatory, investigative purposes. This may include sharing your data with third parties, such as governmental authorities or law enforcement officials.

When do we share your personal information with third parties?

If necessary to perform a service you request from us, to execute an order you have placed or to follow-up on your enquiries, we can share your information with other Corbion entities or third party service providers, for example e-mail and hosting providers, suppliers and delivery services. Third party service providers will process your information on behalf of Corbion for the above purposes.  When we share your data with these parties, we make sure that appropriate safeguards are taken to protect your information.

 

Some Corbion entities and some partners and service providers are located outside of the European Economic Area (EEA), in particular the United States and the countries in which Corbion has an office.  An overview of Corbion’s global presence can be found here.

 

The transfer of data with our Corbion entities outside of the EEA is protected by EU approved model clauses (read more here). For service providers and third parties outside of the EEA that are not subject to an adequacy decision from the European Commission (read more here) we also apply the aforementioned EU model clauses.  In addition, some of the service providers in the United States are Privacy Shield certified (read more here). How long do we store your data?

We retain information about you only for as long as we need it for the purposes for which it was collected.

 

For example, if you are a customer or supplier of Corbion, Corbion will keep your information for the duration of the contractual relationship you or your company has with us and after the end of that relationship for as long as necessary to perform the purposes set out above or to comply with legal obligations. Information we collect as a result of you subscribing to our newsletter or press releases will be stored until you decide to withdraw your subscription.

 

How do we protect your data?

How we will verify that it is really you submitting the request

How to authorize an agent to act on your behalf

You can authorize someone else as an Authorized Agent who can submit a consumer request on your behalf. To do so, you must either (a) execute a valid, verifiable, and notarized Power of Attorney or (b) provide other written authorization that we can then verify. When we receive a consumer request submitted on your behalf by an Authorized Agent, that person will be asked to provide written proof that they have your permission to act on your behalf, and we will also contact you and ask you for information to verify your own identity directly with us and not through your Authorized Agent.

Responding to your consumer requests

We endeavor to respond to a verifiable consumer request within forty-five (45) days of its receipt. If we require more time (up to 45 days or 90 days total from the date we receive your request), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing. We will deliver our written response by mail or electronically, at your option. Any disclosures we provide will only cover the 12-month period preceding our receipt of your verifiable consumer request. The response we provide will also explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable. We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable consumer request unless it is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why we made that decision and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request.

Children under the age of 16
